In 5G development, virtualization innovates the whole network structure. From SDN to NFV, the new structure separates the control plane from data plane, making it much easier to manage the data flow. On the CPE side, in the past, enterprises had to utilize several different proprietary appliances to handle routing, and various security functions. In 5G, we try to use the concept of uCPE to virtualize all those functions to be VNFs, and SD-WAN is the first function established. Deploying SD-WAN could reduce the usage of MPLS and dedicated line for network communication between branches and headquarter, and greatly reduce the communication cost. In addition, it will make managing network much more efficient, reducing labor and equipment cost.

 

EGT23D-DT is the first product in QCT’s uCPE product line. It employs Intel’s C3000 SoC to provide up to 12 cores processing power, suitable for virtualized applications from SMB up to enterprise. It’s a fan-less design with power dissipated through surface aluminum, suitable for noise sensitive office environment.

 

For office network connectivity, it offers 2 WAN ports to connect to internet, 4 LAN ports for internal connection. For redundancy and optimal efficiency, it also provides LTE/5G connection with 4 antennas and dual SIM cards, and Wifi/Wifi 6 connection with additional 4 antennas. For storage, it provides 16GB eMMC, one M.2-2242 M-Key SATA and additional 2.5” hard drive space.

 

In addition to the uCPE hardware, QCT has partnered with both ENEA and Altran to provide total uCPE solution. They both provide uCPE management system, remotely installing and managing VNF applications through clouds. QCT also partners with major uCPE VNF providers including SD-WAN, vRouter, Firewall and WAN optimization.
