Real-Time Big Data Analytics is the Target of Newest Server from Quanta QCT

High-Performance 60-core unit targets organizations striving for shortest time to business insights from massive data streams.

FREMONT, Calif. – February 25, 2014 – Large enterprises and service providers supporting mission-critical applications and big data analytics in real time require servers with massive memory and performance to capitalize on trends as they emerge. They also want the higher densities, energy savings and serviceability enjoyed by hyperscale cloud datacenters.

To fill this emerging and growing market, Quanta QCT today unveiled the QuantaGrid Q71L-4U. The 4U, four-way server uses the Intel® Xeon® processor E7-4800 v2 product family with up to 15 cores per processor, totaling 60 cores and 120 threads per system. The server offers a combination of reliability, high I/O throughput, expandability, efficiency and serviceability that until now were difficult to achieve in the enterprise datacenter.

Big data analytics and the Internet of Things present opportunities for many organizations to create revenue-generating services from the information locked inside their data. According to IDC (Worldwide Big Data Technology and Services Forecast, Dec 2013), the big data technology and services market is expected to grow 27 percent annually through 2017 to reach $32.4 billion. Real-time analytics is a segment of the big data market that seeks to extract insights as the data from connected devices streams into datacenters. Speed is an advantage, and the QuantaGrid Q71L-4U is an ideal choice for this application.

Reliability — The QuantaGrid Q71L-4U is equipped with Intel Run Sure Technology, offering advanced RAS features that can reduce planned and unplanned downtime while protecting data integrity.

High I/O Throughput — Demanding enterprise applications can require significant I/O throughput and scalability. The QuantaGrid Q71L-4U offers 96x DDR3 DIMMs, using the Intel C104 Scalable Memory Buffer’s capability.

High Expandability — The system offers substantial expandability with 10x PCIe 3.0 slots, four of which are hot-pluggable, and a 11th slot dedicated to Quanta storage mezzanine for cost-efficient SAS/RAID storage expansion. Ultra-low latency cache is provided with 12x 2.5” hot-plug HDDs with SAS 12Gb/s ready, and supporting NVMe PCIe SSD.

Ease of Serviceability — Simplified servicing is key. The QuantaGrid Q71L-4U offers 12 hot pluggable HDDs, four hot-swappable PCIe slots, and hot-swappable fans. Quanta QCT’s color coding system and LED indicator lighting system further simplifies servicing.

“The Quanta Q71L-4U server is the ideal tool for extracting business insights from big data in real time,” said Mike Yang, general manager, Quanta QCT. “This high-end server also offers enterprise-grade availability for mission-critical applications. Customers demanding the highest performance for memory-intensive data analytics applications have a powerful new option for their datacenters.”

Availability on the Q71L-4U is slated for Q2 of this year.
