QCT and E4 Deliver Thousands of System Servers, Cores, and Storage to CERN

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is one of the world’s largest and most well-regarded centers for scientific research. They use the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments to study fundamental particles. The huge quantity of data generated by these types of collisions, that need to be processed, stored and made available to the whole scientific community, place extreme requirements in terms of computational performance and storage space.

Because High Energy Physics requires powerful computational systems to carry out the parallel and distributed computing...

Editor’s Note: A lot happened for QCT in the month of June. We kicked it off with Computex, where we put our footprint on AI and displayed why we are leading data center transformation. In the middle of the month, our CERN success story with E4 was released just in time for ISC in Germany to display our prowess with supercomputing through our partners. And as we close out the month, our Telco solution is also about to be premiered at MWC Shanghai so we give some insight on NFV and 5G. This month we also highlight, the highest density server in the world, which has been ready to ship with a lot of specifications that are referred to in the article below.

Mike Yang Presents QCT's Position on AI

At Computex 2017 in Taipei, the second largest IT trade fair in the world and the largest in Asia, QCT's president, Mike Yang, talked about QCT's strategic positioning in the growing field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). According to Gartner, one of the world's leading research and consulting firms, applied artificial intelligence and advanced machine learning are among the top 10 strategic technological trends in 2017. This trend is also recognized by QCT and we have invested in a full stack AI offering according to the motto " Adaptive - Powerful - Simple ".

Accompanied by Nvidia, Mike also spoke on QCT's visions for a future that can be fundamentally further developed by AI. For QCT, AI is "a trend we cannot afford to miss", a trend we must not miss...

Computex:
Another Success

As the month comes to a close we’d like to thank everyone at Quanta and QCT for their great support to make QCT at Computex 2017 a success! This year, we took to the floor with the theme “Leading Data Center Transformation” and more than 315 visitors came to visit QCT’s booth and 203 guests joined QCT’s VIP party on 5/31.

The Highest Storage Density Server in the World

Big data has emerged as a buzzword in business IT over the past years. But it is not all hype. Big data is all about the large amounts of data and running analytics on those large data sets. This is where QCT’s hyperscale computing systems fit in. The QuantaGrid D51PL-4U storage server has a 102pcs top accessed 3.5” SATA/SAS HDD bay. User get over 1PB in 4U space, which means they can get 325% more space compared to legacy 4U front accessed storage servers. This not only feeds the appetite for building hyperscale systems with the ability to take on

a lot of in-house hardware building and maintenance, but it can handle limited tasks alongside more traditional enterprise environments that handle large amounts of applications on less specialized systems...

Telco fits into the QCT DNA

Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT) is moving into the Telco Market with its Telco Cloud Computing Solutions. QCT has collaborated with Affirmed Networks and the CORD (Central Office Re-architected as a Datacenter) project, which have combined NFV (Network Functions Virtualization), SDN (Software Defined Networking), and the elasticity of the cloud to build an open source and fully-integrated solution architecture.

Not only can these technologies help address the growing capacity of mobile traffic from 5G networks and edge computing, but they can also reduce the CapEx and OpEx...
