QCT Successfully Demonstrates its 5G Use Case with Baicells at MWC Shanghai 2019

Shanghai, China - June 26 2019 - Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), a global data center solution provider, today demonstrated its collaboration with Baicells, a leading provider of disruptive global 4G/5G solutions at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai.

QCT and Baicells have had a close partnership since 2018 and have had great synergies. At Computex 2019 in Taipei at the end of May, Baicells along with QCT, co-demonstrated 5G radio access which aroused much attention from visitors from all around the world. QCT and Baicells continued their collaboration and demo at MWC Shanghai, around the same concept.

The collaboration entails an innovative far-edge infrastructure with accelerated edge computing performance and a fan-less wide-temperature-range design. To achieve this, QCT integrated Baicells’ innovative vRAN solutions with their robust platforms, which extends to edge computing, virtualization, and uCPE products; bringing integrated use of edge platform development and mobile network virtualization.

This QCT and Baicells collaboration starts from the vRAN perspective, with the Baicells’ Remote Radio Head (RRH), the co-developed outdoor edge platform performed as a distributed unit (DU), and QCT indoor edge server performed as a virtual central unit (CU) or virtual baseband processing unit (BBU). The indoor edge server is also ideal for Internet of Things (IoT), surveillance, cloud gaming, smart city applications, and cloud installations whether on-premise or remote. At MWC Shanghai, Baicells and QCT will demonstrate their 5G New Radio (NR) with Baicells RRH and the QCT indoor edge server performing as a BBU. Baicells’ 5G NR will also be highlighted for its Sub-6GHz solution which will surely be the 5G standard as Telcos build trial networks, to see the benefits and actual commercialization.
