Top Ranking AI and HPC Cloud Solutions Showcased at SC18

[Dallas, Texas] November 13, 2018 - Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), a global data center solution provider - in collaboration with the National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC) of the National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs) in Taiwan - announced that its Taiwania 2 HPC/AI Cloud system was ranked No. 20 among the newly issued list of the world’s TOP500 fastest supercomputers and No. 10 on the Green500 list of the world’s most efficient systems.  The news was announced at the Supercomputing Conference (SC) in Dallas, Texas, where the company is showcasing its latest AI and HPC computing platforms, including additions to its QuantaGrid series of servers – the next-generation NVIDIA® HGX-2 based accelerated server supporting up to 16 NVIDIA Tesla® GPU accelerators – at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center at booth 1043.

NCHC partnered with QCT and other companies to complete the construction of the Taiwania 2. Its 9 PFLOPS (Rmax) on HPL benchmark, are powered by 252x QuantaGrid D52G-4U servers each with 8x NVIDIA Tesla V100 32GB Tensor Core GPUs. The system adopts liquid cooling technology to optimize energy efficiency, while providing rack-level integration with best practices in power and network cabling to speed up productivity. This is the first project of its kind at such a large scale for Taiwan’s HPC and AI market, providing more immediate and convenient computing services to various industries, and also for academia and research communities.

At SC18, QCT will showcase the following data center solutions that enable AI and HPC cloud infrastructures:

 

  •        Next-Gen NVIDIA HGX-2 Accelerated Server:

The Ultimate Deep Learning Server, designed for the highest complexity AI models. Built on the innovative NVIDIA HGX-2 platform, it features up to 16 x Tesla V100 Tensor Core GPUs and is the world’s most powerful accelerated server platform.  This universal platform delivers multi-precision calculations to accelerate deep learning, machine learning, and high-performance computing.

  •         QuantaGrid D52G-4U:

A powerful accelerated computing platform that has the flexibility to be reconfigured for multiple topologies and is optimized for different workloads.

  •         QuantaGrid JG4080:

A companion model to the QuantaGrid D52G-4U and part of the NVIDIA SCX-E3 class. It has the same configurability, excluding the CPU sled. Available with SXM2 support or PCIe configurations, it allows connections to multiple hosts, providing flexibility to fine tune setups for specific workloads.

 

  •         QuantaGrid D52BV-2U:

A compact 2U server that supports 4x NVIDIA GPUs and designed for workloads that require higher CPU-to-GPU ratio. It is perfect for specific AI workloads, such as inferencing, that require fewer GPUs. Check out our live AI medical use demonstration featuring the D52BV-2U at our booth.

  •        QuantaMicro X11C-8N:

A versatile, high-density, entry-level server, offering flexibility with multiple node and accelerator options. It is designed to adapt to various workloads by adjusting CPU-to-accelerator ratios.

 

Furthermore, QCT will have its QxSmart HPC/DL Solution on display at SC18. The solution is a scalable and validated solution that integrates adaptive hardware with the HPC/DL software stack and QCT’s workload packages to simplify deployment processes.
